The release says Demat 2.0 is a distributed-ledger-based platform designed to support tokenised securities and near-real-time settlement through integration with RBI's wholesale CBDC infrastructure.
It also says the platform retains the existing legal structure, KYC framework, investor rights and regulatory safeguards while aiming to improve settlement and asset servicing.
