Privacy Policy
Luxury News is committed to protecting the privacy of its readers and users. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected, used, processed and protected when users access the Luxury News website at luxurynews.in or use the Luxury News Android application.
By accessing or using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.
1. Introduction
Luxury News is a premium digital news and lifestyle publication covering luxury, business, technology, travel, real estate and high-end lifestyle. This Privacy Policy applies to the Luxury News website (luxurynews.in), the Luxury News Android application, and related Luxury News digital services (together, the “Services”).
This policy describes how information handled directly by Luxury News is collected and used, and it also describes information that is processed by service providers (such as Google) that help us operate the Services. It does not apply to third-party websites, applications or services that we do not control, even if you reach them through links on the Services.
2. Information We Collect
We collect two broad categories of information: information you choose to provide and information collected automatically when you use the Services. We collect only what is reasonably necessary to operate a news website and app and to provide the features you choose to use.
Simply reading our public news articles does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information.
3. Information You Provide
Depending on the features you choose to use, you may voluntarily provide information such as:
- Newsletter subscription: your email address, mobile number and your consent, when you subscribe to receive Luxury News updates.
- Contact messages: your name, email address and the content of your message when you use our Contact page.
- User accounts (optional): your name, email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash) if you choose to register.
- Business World directory submissions: business name, category, contact details, address, website and images when you submit a business listing to our local Business World directory.
- Comments and other interactions: information you voluntarily submit through comments, polls or similar features where they are available.
We do not require sensitive personal information (such as government identifiers, financial account details or health information) to use the news features of the Services. Business-listing contact details you choose to submit may be visible to visitors as part of the public listing.
4. Information Automatically Collected
When you visit our website or use our app, certain technical and diagnostic information may be processed automatically by us or by service providers, including:
- Internet Protocol (IP) address and approximate geographic region derived from it.
- Device information, operating-system information, browser type and app version.
- Pages and articles viewed, time spent, referral sources and the dates and times of visits.
- Diagnostic and network information, and crash data where provided by the mobile app.
- Where advertising is shown, advertising identifiers and interaction with advertisements may be processed by advertising providers.
- Notification device registration tokens when push notifications are enabled in the app.
This information helps us understand how readers use the Services, keep them reliable and secure, and prevent abuse.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Luxury News website may use cookies, sessions, local storage and similar technologies for purposes including:
- Remembering your preferences and site settings.
- Security, including protecting forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
- Remembering that you have seen the cookie notice.
- Analytics and advertising through the third-party services described in this policy.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies, some parts of the website may not function fully.
6. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described in this policy to:
- Operate the website and app and deliver news, features and other content you request.
- Send newsletters and updates you have subscribed to.
- Send requested or allowed push notifications to the Android app.
- Respond to your enquiries, contact messages and business-listing submissions.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse and troubleshoot technical problems.
- Improve reliability and user experience, and display and measure advertising where applicable.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
7. Newsletters and Subscriber Information
If you subscribe to a Luxury News newsletter, we store your email address, mobile number, consent record and subscription time so that we can send you the updates you requested. Your details are used only for the subscription service you requested and related administrative purposes. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails, the unsubscribe page on our website, or by contacting us (see the Contact section below).
8. Push Notifications
With your permission, the Luxury News Android app can send push notifications to your device. Notifications may include breaking news, important news updates, daily horoscope updates where enabled, and other relevant editorial notifications. You can disable notifications at any time through your Android device settings (Settings → Apps → Luxury News → Notifications) or inside the app. Disabling notifications does not affect your ability to read news in the app.
9. Mobile Application Data
The Android app (package in.luxurynews.app) provides Luxury News content and communicates with our servers over encrypted HTTPS connections. Sensitive server credentials, database details or private configuration values are never delivered to the app; the app only receives public content and public configuration required to display it. If you enable push notifications, the app sends a device registration token to our servers so that we can deliver notifications to your device.
10. Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
To deliver push notifications, our app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging, a service provided by Google. When you enable notifications, a device registration token necessary for notification delivery is processed by us and by Google’s Firebase service. This token is used only for delivering the notifications you requested; we do not use FCM to collect your personal contact information, and we do not upload your personal contact information to Firebase for advertising purposes. Google’s privacy practices apply to the Firebase service.
11. Advertising and Third-Party Services
The website may display advertising, including Google AdSense and direct/manual advertisement placements where enabled. The Android app may display advertising served by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) where enabled. Advertising providers may process information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location derived from IP where applicable, ad impressions and ad interactions, and diagnostic information, in order to deliver and measure advertisements. Depending on configuration and the choices available to you, advertising may be personalised or non-personalised; Google and its advertising services operate under their own privacy policies and provide their own controls. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers, and we encourage you to review Google’s privacy and advertising settings for more information about your choices.
12. Analytics
When analytics is enabled, we use web and app analytics tools (which may include Google Analytics and Firebase services) to understand aggregate usage patterns such as the number of visitors, popular articles and traffic sources. These tools may set cookies or process device and event data. We use this information to improve our content and Services. Google provides tools that allow you to opt out of Google Analytics data collection for the web.
13. External Links and Embedded Content
Our articles and pages may contain links to external websites, including social-media platforms, government sources and other news and lifestyle sites, as well as embedded content and widgets (for example, market-data widgets, weather data, radio streams and video players) provided by third parties. Those third-party services may set cookies or process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external sites and services, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
14. Video Content
Where the Services display video content hosted on YouTube or other platforms, playing that content may cause the platform provider to process data such as your IP address and viewing information in accordance with its own privacy policy. We do not control those platforms’ data practices.
15. Location Information
Some features, such as weather, may use an approximate location so that we can show locally relevant information. If you choose to provide or share a location, it is used only to provide the feature you requested and is not required for general news reading. You can control location permissions through your browser or device settings.
16. Business World Submissions
Our Business World local directory lets business owners submit their business details for a listing. The information you submit (business name, category, contact details, address and images) is used to create and display your listing. Contact details you choose to submit may be visible to site visitors as part of the public listing. Please do not submit information you do not want displayed publicly.
17. Comments and User-Generated Content
Where commenting is available, the content you post and the display name you provide may become public and may be shown alongside the article. We may moderate or remove comments that violate our community standards. Please do not share personal or sensitive information in public comments.
18. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for operational and security requirements, or as required by applicable law. For example, subscriber records are kept while a subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, and can be removed when you unsubscribe or upon request. Technical and diagnostic logs are retained for security and operational purposes and are then deleted or anonymised.
19. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect the information we hold, including encrypted HTTPS connections where supported, secure password hashing, restricted administrative access and careful handling of server configuration. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect the data we hold. Sensitive server credentials and private configuration values are never delivered to the public app or website front-end.
20. Children’s Privacy
Luxury News is a general-audience news service and is not specifically directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where such collection is prohibited by applicable law. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to review and delete it where appropriate.
21. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your information where applicable.
- Withdraw consent you previously gave, such as for newsletters or notifications.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section below. We will respond within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law.
22. Unsubscribe and Notification Controls
You can manage or stop communications from us at any time:
- Newsletters: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email or the unsubscribe page on our website.
- Push notifications: disable notifications in your Android device settings or inside the app.
- Location: manage or revoke location permission in your browser or device settings.
- Advertising: use the advertising and privacy choices provided by Android and Google where applicable.
23. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, technologies, legal requirements or business practices. The updated policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
24. Contact Information
If you have questions, concerns or requests about this Privacy Policy or about how your information is handled, please contact us using the details shown in the Contact box on this page or through our Contact page. We will make reasonable efforts to respond to your enquiry.
